Spirit Led Christianity:
With Bishop Ronald K. Powell
Proverbs 3:5 King James Version
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
- Trust in the Lord with all your What? all thine heart
- You don’t trust God in your head!
In Romans 10:9 King James Version
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
- For with the Heart man believes.
- This Is Important to discern, you don’t trust God with your mind!
- You think with your mind., not trust! You trust with your heart!
- 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding
God’s Word Differs between the two
Proverbs 3:6 King James Version
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
- How Many ways? All Your Ways!
- You can’t imagine you can handle part of it, and only get God involved in the tough ones.
In All our ways we must do What?
- Acknowledge Him!
- Which means; Acknowledge that He is there, acknowledge that He knows more than you do! And ask Him for direction and help.
- Get Him involved! Don’t exclude Him, Include Him.
If you Include Him, what did He say He would do?
- He Would Direct you in all your ways (Paths) (Decisions) (Choices)
- Perfect Direction Every Time
Matthew 5:48 King James Version
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
- If God directs your paths will you end up in the right place?
- Are you going to end up in the good place where good things happen?
- Will you end up in a place of prosperity?
1 Kings 2:3 (NIV) – and observe what the LORD your God requires: Walk in his ways, and keep his decrees and commands, his laws and requirements, as written in the Law of Moses, so that you may prosper in all you do and wherever you go.
- God doesn’t give us a bunch of rules just to make our lives challenging, He instructs us, not for His benefit, but for ours!
- When He says not to gossip, it is because He knows what it leads to – and how it ultimately makes our lives worse.
- When He says to give, it’s because He knows that the most fulfilling and joyful life is one of giving.
Now I am not suggesting that we should just serve God to see what we can get out of the deal, but it is nice to know that He is really is looking out for our benefit!
Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV) – Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Genesis 39:3 (NASB) – Now his master saw that the LORD was with him and how the LORD caused all that he did to prosper in his hand.
Deuteronomy 29:9 (NASB) – So keep the words of this covenant to do them, that you may prosper in all that you do.
Deuteronomy 30:8-10 (NASB) “And you shall again obey the LORD, and observe all His commandments which I command you today. “Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers; if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.
If you acknowledge Him:
- I am the Lord that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26).
- You shall be buried in a good old age (Gen. 15:15).
- You shall come to your grave in a full age like as a shock of corn cometh in its season (Job 5:26).
- When I see the blood, I will pass over you and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you (Ex. 12:13).
When the Lord is directing your steps and your path you will be victorious in everything your hand finds to do.
When God says: Do this, and do not do that, you already know leaning on your own understanding is a problem. God would not have brought it up if it were not an across-the-board problem for all humans.
If the Lord say do not do this What can you figure He means or is trying to do with you?
- Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Turn to Romans Chapter 8 beginning in verse 14; God is distinguishing those which are Sons of God and the difference between those led by the Spirit and those led by their head.
Romans 8:14 – 17 King James Version
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
- You don’t’ get light and truth about being led by the Spirit of truth in just any place or every ministry. There are who ministries, denominations and groups that are simply ignorant of these truths today. I am sincerely thankful for my mentors and predecessors for teaching me this as a young minister. Now, I am here to pass it on to you and generations to follow.
- There are still people putting out fleeces and flipping quarters to find the will of God today.
- People running from person to person to ask their opinions and what they think they should do. Trying to get a general consensus and majority opinion on what they should do. That is not being led by the Spirit of God!
- Where did God say to get the direction for your life and direction?
Proverbs 3:6 King James Version
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
- God Himself will Give you an inward witness … which is not an audible voice, but it will come with the peace of God.
Closing & Prayer
Colossians 3:15-17 King James Version
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
